GW music is good, bought all the soundtracks so far. There's a way, however, to pull the music directly out of the game so I'm not sure whether I'll buy the Eye of the North thing unless it has extra goodies. DRM = meh.
Some music is quite misplaced (Kaineng Center song in the sewers), others horribly boring (most of Istan & Desolation) but overall I really like the GW soundtracks. I don't mind the battle music, and in fact wanted that feature after Factions, but it could've been better implemented.

Personally I love GW's music... Its epic and grandiose, sad and full of despair, upbeat and lively, etc.
The composer (Jeremy Soule) has done most of my favorite music in videogames... His work on the Elder Scrolls was marvellous too!
Hire him again Anet!

Mostly it's great, I like especially Prophecies and Factions CE music. Two of the most annoying things about the music are: sometimes it's too quiet to hear from other sounds, even though I have the music volume at max and the others around 75%. [rant] The other thing is DRM, why do I need to get the "license" every time I reinstal windows, and when they run out I have to contact directsong support to get more licenses. What's the point in that, especially when there are ways to get around the DRM for those who want to use them. Just another thing to annoy paying customers. [/rant] :P

I absolutely hate "battle music". It has completely ruined the music experience of Guild Wars and is really irritating. I just want the regular music, combat or no combat. A checkbox to turn this "feature" off would be so welcomed. At this time, I just have the music off -- during Prophesies I let the music stay on most of the time, by contrast. It seems I'm not alone in this assessment...

To me, background music kills the reality factor, and I shut it off in all of my games.

I enjoyed the music of Prophecies a lot, and it helped a lot to create an epic feeling.. kinda :P
But I just hated the music in Factions, I even got annoyed by it. And Nightfall.. it's a bit too early to say but I think that the music has definitely improved from Factions. Though I agree that the battle music gets sometimes disturbing.

dpends on my mood sometimes I listen to prophecies and factions music (Nightfalls sucks) but most of the time I got my zune player on in the background, rather kill stuff to Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, or Slipknot then to some cheery classical music.

I LOVE Prophecies music. Jeremy Soule is amazing. Crystal Oasis is a favourite of mine and my girlfriend's. There was another one that I loved, though. Can't remember the name of it. I know it was Prophecies though.

I just bought the EOTN OST and have been blown away several times already by it. I think it may be the best score he has done so far. It's amazing.

Not really. I wish they'd let you tell the program to play a certain song or a certain directory of songs LOL

Speak for yourself.
Battle music adds atmosphere to the battles. Without it, fights in-game would be a lot more boring.
